Plus you can choose from a whole range of locally-grown and locally-made quality artisanal food and drinks that Amanda has hand-picked, including cheeses, fresh breads, farm-fresh produce, honey, snacks, beverages and more – everything you need to feed the family.

Everything Amanda makes and sells in the Farm Shop is of the highest quality, available to everyone, at a fair price. It’s part of her commitment to giving local people access to the very best food that’s grown and produced locally.

When jam was literally on the doorstep…

about-workshop

A farmer’s wife making preserves and award-winning puddings. She studied a National Diploma in Food Technology at Loughry College in Cookstown, worked in Quality Assurance in the food industry, and had an HNC in Food Supply Management and has had various jobs in the Food Industry..

The idea for the business had been around for years, but things really took off in 2016 when Amanda discovered a big batch of rhubarb growing on the farm and decided to make some rhubarb jam. She had so much—and it was so scrumptious—she asked a local shop to stock it, and sold it from her own doorstep alongside an honesty box.

Demand grew and she expanded into Christmas puddings, sticky toffee puddings and more… and she kept on going. The thing about Amanda is that she’s an absolute whirlwind of energy, ideas and enthusiasm, and nothing stops her. In fact, the busier she is, the more she energy she has!

Amanda’s ethical approach to farming, belief in good food for all, commitment to sustainability and passion for the land are infectious and everyone who meets her can’t help but feel the same. Born and bred in County Antrim, Amanda is warm and welcoming, and a friend to everyone who visits.

Ballykenver Farmshop & Kitchen is official Slow Food

It’s a sign of genuinely sustainable food that is unique to the area, that doesn’t harm the environment in its growth or production, and that is for and available to everyone.

As such, Amanda offers the same high-quality locally produced food that is often sold for a premium in gift shops. In her Farm Shop, it’s available to everyone at an accessible price. If you’re looking for great value farm food offers, this is the place.

And of course, when locals buy Ballykenver Farmshop & Kitchen products from the Farmshop, the food comes with very low food miles, which is always good to know.
